(Matthew 27:62 CLV) Now, on the morrow which is after the preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered to Pilate,

(Mark 15:42 CLV) And, already coming to be evening, since
it was the preparation which is before the sabbath,

(Luke 23:54 CLV) And
it was the day of preparation, and a sabbath lighted up."

(John 19:14 CLV) Now
it was the preparation of the Passover; the hour was about the third. And he is saying to the Jews, "Lo! your king!"

(John 19:31 CLV) The Jews, then, since it was the preparation, lest the bodies should be remaining on the cross on the sabbath (for it was the great day, that sabbath), ask Pilate that they might be fracturing their legs, and they may be taken away."

(John 19:42 CLV) There, then, because of the preparation of the Jews, seeing that the tomb was near, they place Jesus."

The 'coming Sabbath' before the burial of Jesus was the annual Sabbath of Passover Day on the 14th of the first month and not the 7th day Sabbath, as it is actually written in the Greek manuscripts in Matthew 28:1 that the women went to the tomb on the 'first of the (7) sabbaths', which clearly implies that it was on a Saturday that the women went to the tomb.

Hence, backwards, Jesus spent Friday night, Thursday night, and Wednesday night buried, just as He prophesied His prophet Jonah's experience in Matthew 12:40.

Sabbath starts and ends on broad daylight.
